While our apps are generally easy to learn they can be sometimes hard to master. To help you navigate the learning curve, we have created a series of tutorials for our BeCasso app on YouTube.
Although the video tutorial series covers solely on BeCasso, the general workflows and the concept on how the features work are very similar across our apps. Thus, you can check out the tutorials, even if you want to master your art with our Clip2Comic, Graphite, Oilbrush or Waterbrush app.
Below, we provide an overview of the most important features and workflows.
I. General workflow
The general workflow of our apps always consists of the following steps.
-
-
Load an image or a video.
The start screen of our apps offers multiple ways to load an image or video (media) in our apps. You can load media using the Apple Photos app or the Files app. In addition, you can capture media on the iPhone or iPad using the built-in camera. -
Select a style.
After you have loaded a photo or video you will enter the Style Selection screen, where you can choose the style that fits your photo and taste the best. -
Customize your Style.
This is actually an optional step that you can skip, if you are already satisfied with the result. If you want to tweak your artwork to perfection, you can tap on "Edit" in the Style Selection screen, to access different editing tools. -
Save your artwork.
When you are satisfied with the result, tap "Finish" to access the Finish Screen. Here you will find different options to move on with your Artwork. "Save to Photos" directly saves your artwork to the Apple Photos app. With "Share" you can share your artwork to other apps, such as messengers, social media platforms or the Files app. "Order Print" and "Send as Postcard" allows for getting your artwork printed directly.

II. Editing tools
Our photo-to-art-apps offer the most versatile and advanced customization options on the App Store. They enable you to tweak your artwork to perfection and are all grouped in the "Edit" menu. In the following we will give a brief overview of the most relevant tools. Please note: Depending on the app used and the capabilities of your device, you might not have access to all the tools.
1. Cropping
This tool offers different cropping presets to specify the actual region of interest you want to edit.
2. Magic Erase
This tool can be used to remove smaller imperfections or even whole objects from the input image to optimize the composition of your image. Simply use your finger, Apple Pencil, Trackpad or Mouse and brush over the imperfections you want to remove. A red overlay indicates regions you have already erased.
With "Restore" you can restore formerly erased regions and "Reset" will reset all your edits.
3. Adjust
This tool offers access to all stylistic parameters of your selected style or filter. Here you can tweak the style on a global level, for example by increasing or decreasing the details that should be shown in your artwork.
This video shows the Adjust tool in action for our BeCasso app. Please note: In BeCasso, you will find the adjust tool in the "Tool" section that can be accessed via the lower tool bar.
4. Retouch
Like the Adjust Tool, the retouch tools allow for further customization of your artwork. The main difference between both tools is that Retouch works on parts of the image, only, rather than on the complete image. You can use your finger Apple Pencil, Trackpad or Mouse to retouch individual parameters for individual regions of your artwork.
This video showcases this feature in combination with our Auto Retouch feature for BeCasso. Please note: In BeCasso, you will find the adjust tool in the "Retouch" section that can be accessed via the lower tool bar.
5. Color, Paper and Vignette Tools
Our apps offer individual tools to add and modify Color, Paper and Vignette filters to your artwork. Each of the tools basically work the same:
- Select a color, paper or vignette that works the best.
- Adjust filter specific parameters such as "Intensity", "Opacity" or "Size" to tweak your result to perfection.
While Clip2Comic, Graphite, Oilbrush and Waterbrush offer basic parameters, only, BeCasso allows for more creative control, including retouching the parameters of the Color, Paper and Vignette filters.
This video shortly demonstrates how you can combine and adjust the different filters and save them as a new Custom Style.
6. Color Editing Tools
Last but not least our apps offer basic photo editing tools to adjust parameters such as Brightness, Contrast, Shadows, Black Point and much more. They are all accessible in the Edit menu of our app and are bundled in BeCasso in the "Adjust"-section of the Edit menu.
